Vanden Plas Princess 1100

This Princess 1100 was built in the UK on the 3rd of June 1965 and, as it was destined for Australia, it was fitted with a larger, export market radiator. On June 26th it was despatched to Sydney and ultimately to Lorimer BMC in Gordon.

Its first couple of years were quite busy covering an average of 1,000 miles every month. It remained in the same family and travelled a total of 71,599 miles before being retired under a Willow tree. It was rescued in 2001 and is currently being restored.

Although its body had remarkably little rust, its interior was completely ruined and its gearbox had a large hole in the side of it courtesy of a badly worn inner universal joint.

Retrimming the interior and restoring the walnut finish has been a time consuming task, but the results are satisfying.
